Volunteer Opportunities:

Museum Desk Reception - Greet visitors, collect admissions, give an overview of what is to be seen in the museum, answer questions.

Museum Tour Guide - Lead visitors on guided tours of the museum complex; these could be individuals or groups.

Living History Guide - Each spring fourth graders from area schools spend a day at the 1860's Stauffer-Will Farm just south of Aurora or in the Village of Aurora at the museum complex. Help students learn about Aurora Colony life and its place in Oregon history by sharing a portion of it with them.

Special Events - Greet visitors or serve refreshments at special events like the Strawberry Social in the summer and the Quilt Show in the fall.

Maintenance - Just as any other building, the museum has ongoing maintenance needs, a variety of projects are available. If you have a special talent in this area we would love to have you share it with us.

Committee Volunteer Opportunities

Event / Program Committee - The purpose of this committee is to organize, promote and recommend yearly programs and events that help to fund the historical society and emphasize the history and purpose of the Aurora Colony.

Quilt Show Committee - The Quilt Show Committee is responsible for planning and helping with the annual Quilt Show, held in October. There are many ways in which you can help: distribute flyers; stuff & stamp envelopes; sell advertising; promote the raffle quilt at other venues; procure sponsors; bake cookies for the cabin; set up displays; check quilts in and out; hang the show; and help staff the buildings during the show. The committee starts meeting in the spring to begin the planning process.

Membership Committee - Help plan and promote activities and methods for increasing membership in the historical society.
