2024 Quilt Block Contest
Note: This year there will not be a block fabric provided.
Express your creativity and craft quilt blocks that embody elegance and grace using only black and white fabrics. Embrace the simplicity and contrast of this monochromatic palette and let your imagination shine.
Twenty winning squares will be pieced, and hand quilted by the Old Aurora Colony Hand Quilters, then raffled as a fundraiser for the museum during the 2024 Old Aurora Colony Museum Quilt Show. Winners receive a thank you gift.
Quilt Blocks are due at the Museum no later than 5pm on Sunday, October 20th for judging. Winners will be announced following the show.
Block Contest FAQ
For the 2024 Quilt Block Contest, will you be handing out any fabric to be included in the quilt block contest? Or is all the fabric used to be of our own choice?
For this year since we are going with black and white we are leaving the fabric selection up to you. We will not have any required fabric to incorporate.
Can my fabric have tiny silver spots?
Unfortunately, silver is neither white nor black so that will also not be allowed in the block contest
Is gray allowed?
Nope, only black and white. The black and white can be patterned which may give the appearance of gray, but the threads must be either black or white.
My fabric has a tiny bit of another color, just a spot or two. Is that ok?
Unfortunately we are only accepting fabric with white or black. The presence of a third color would disqualify your block.
